NAME: Caleb KIMBALL, II NOTES: 1. This Caleb is the earliest record of the name Kimball in Well, Maine. He came to Wells about 1700 and lived in that part of town known as Kennebunk. 2. Caleb is believed to be a descendant of Richard Kimball who sailed from England in 1634. Richard and Henry Kimball, brothers, sailed from England April 10, 1634 in the ship "Elizabeth" and landed in Boston. They both went to and settled in Watertown, Massachusetts. Richard removed to Ipswich, Massachusetts in 1637. All of the Kimballs in the United States are believed to be descended from these two brothers. - From Recollections of a Busy Life, by Judge Ivory G. Kimball
NOTES: 1. Richard was a Deacon of the First Church and was prominent in town affairs. 2. He was an early settler of Wells and had a store in Kennebunk in 1730. 3. There are several Richard Kimballs in the Kimball line: (1) The Richard who came from England to America in 1634 (2) The second son of Caleb Kimball (3) The 1st son of Richard II, who died young (4) the 2ns son of Richard II, Richard IV (5) The son of Israel Kimball, Richard V.
