NAME: Caleb KIMBALL, I NOTES: 1. This Caleb Kimball (1647-1675) was slain with Capt. Lathrop on 18 Sep 1675 and his estate was divided among his father's children. Apparently, he had a son, Caleb, born before 1675, and this would be the Caleb II mentioned in "Our Folks Revisited", who came to Wells, Maine about 1700 and married Susannah Cloyes in 1704. This record does not indicate the name of Caleb's wife or any other children. Caleb was only 28 years of age when he was slain at Narrangansett by Indians. 2. Caleb was married four times.
NAME: Caleb KIMBALL, II NOTES: 1. This Caleb is the earliest record of the name Kimball in Well, Maine. He came to Wells about 1700 and lived in that part of town known as Kennebunk. 2. Caleb is believed to be a descendant of Richard Kimball who sailed from England in 1634. Richard and Henry Kimball, brothers, sailed from England April 10, 1634 in the ship "Elizabeth" and landed in Boston. They both went to and settled in Watertown, Massachusetts. Richard removed to Ipswich, Massachusetts in 1637. All of the Kimballs in the United States are believed to be descended from these two brothers. - From Recollections of a Busy Life, by Judge Ivory G. Kimball
