Mary Oliver's mother died in childbirth. The funeral was at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Louis, and the body shipped to Louisville KY for burial in the St. Louis Cemetary. Thomas A. was sent to a boarding school in Tennessee where he stayed until he was 12. At age 12 he took a river boat to St. Louis, and joined his father's construction company which was working in St. Louis County. The girls were sent to Louisville KY to live with relatives.
He married Elizabeth Mary Redman 8 Jan 1880 at Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky . Elizabeth Mary Redman was born at Covington, Kenton, Kentucky Oct 1860 daughter of (poss) Lawrence Redman and (poss) Mary .
