Raymond Shelby Petersen, 87, died Wednesday, January 19, 1995, in the
Bear Lake Memorial Hospital in Montpelier, Idaho.

He was born May 27, 1907, in Granger, Utah to Nelson P. and Sarah Grant
Petersen. He married Afton B. Dimond on September 20, 1928 in the Salt
Lake LDS Temple. She died on March 24, 1993. He was the youngest of 13
children. As a young man he worked for Kennecott Copper and then for a
dairy farmer, and in1947 he moved his family to Cokeville and became a
rancher. He was an active member of the LDS Church and was a high
priest at the time of his death. He was also a member of the Lions Club
and loved hunting, fishing and traveling.

He is survived by eight children, Afton Jean Hutchinson, Richard D.
Petersen, Shirlee P. Deromedis, all of Cokeville; Raymond T. Peterson,
serving a mission in Samoa; Robert N. Petersen of Cokeville; H. Lannie
Petersen of Puyallup, Washington; Kathleen P. Petersen of Alpine,
Wyoming; and Dorothy P. Colwell of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 41
Grandchildren and 77 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
one daughter, Jane, one granddaughter, Roxanne, one grandson, David, and
one son-in-law, Robert Hutchinson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 23, at 1 p.m. in the
Cokeville LDS Chapel. Friends may call at Matthews Mortuary in
Montpelier, Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday at the church
in Cokeville from 11 a.m. till 12:45 p.m. Burial, Cokeville Cemetery.
