NOTES: 1. Samuel was named for furnishing supplies to the military in the Revolutionary War. 2. Samuel was the State Senator for Caswell County, North Carolina in 1800, 1801, 1803, 1804.
NOTES: 1. Josiah fought in the Revolutionary War. 2. Josiah died on 23 August 1844, according to the Final Pension Payment file for him at National Archives, which contains a letter authorizing payment of the unpaid arrearage of Josiah Morton's pension to an attorney for Azariah G. Morton, named as the only child of Josiah Morton. It is believed that Azariah Graves Morton may have been the sole child of a second wife of Josiah Morton.
