OCCUPATION: Lawyer/Attorney NOTES: 1. Richard disappeared in 1923, date of death is unknown. 2. Richard was a lawyer and member of the Arkansas House of Representatives. His picture with an article on him appears in the Sketch Book (n.d.). Copy of this article on file. He lived in Edendale in the 20's and early 30's and had a law office in the Loews Buildin on Spring and 7th. He disappeared around 1933 (?). Following are some of the things Aunt Alice has told me about him: He had a law office in downtown Los Angeles. Once, shortly after Warren was born, Alice took him there to visit his grandfather. Richard Taylor told her never to do that again--he didn't want anyone to know that he was old enough to be a grandfather Richard Taylor evidently disappeared quite frequently during the marriage. He would then occastionally reappear with gifts. She remembers on Halloween when the children were quarantined becuase of an illness when he appeared with extravagant and costly candies--this extravagance when they did not have warm winter clothes. She also remembers him reading to her as a child and enjoying Irish music. She said that he and her mother were very ill-matched in temperament. Alice remembers him as dressing very smartly.
