To erect a shop for their own use. This could our Joseph who was a blacksmith in Hurstpierpoint until he died. This needs to be looked into.

There is a Mary Pickett Burial film 0919093 page 9 could be this Mary.  This is not our Mary Chandler Pickett. This states daughter of Will Yoeman.

Birth was christened 20 Sep 1797 and Edward Pickett birth 11 apr 1802 making Edward five years younger than Mary Chandler Pickett. Mary age giving in 1841 census as being 35 Edward was also 35.
Mary was listed in 1841 Census and was living she had to passed away after the census was taken.
