MILITARY SERVICE: Peter served in the Revolutionary War, enlisting at the age             of 19 in Captain Armstrong's company on May 25, 1780. He was                  captured by the British at Fishing Creek, S. C. on Aug. 18, 1780.             He was discharged July 6 29, 1781, after almost 14 months of                  service.  Pension states that Peter was born in York Co, Pa,
              and was age 70 at the time of filing for pension.
              RWP #S7456--filed on 30 Oct. 1832 in Lincoln Co., N. Carolina.
DEATH:  Will dated Dec. 1, 1835. Proved on 1837 Lincoln Co., N. Carolina.
RELIGION-OCCUPATION:  Peter was also a pioneer preacher conducting services           in German at area churches.  N. Carolina Colonial records refers to a         Rev. Schrum ministering at the Old Dutch Meeting House (St. Paul              Union Church, Lutheran and Reformed, in present Catawba County)               between 1760 and 1789.
LAND:  Peter owned land on Leepers Creek and Lick Run in the present Ironton          Township and Buffalo Shoals community of Lincoln County.

       It is only assumed that Margaret is the the daughter of Matthias Epley & Christina Riddle, so far
       it's NOT PROVEN.  But Margaret Epley marries Peter Shrum and they are found living near the
       brothers John, Jacob, Peter, and Daniel.  Another interesting fact is that if Christina Riddle's
       mothers name is Anna Margaret.
NAME:
       In the book "German Speaking People West of the Catawba River in North Carolina" by Lorena
       Shell Eaker; it states her name is Maria Margaret Epley.
