                   BIRTH-PARENTS:  source taken from a form filled out by Henry's son James,
          for the 1911 Arkansas History Commission on Veterans of the Civil
          War. It states that Henry was born in Gilford County, NC.; that
          Henry's father was named Memberance Burkett.  Gilford County, NC was
          a Quaker community, so his father's name might be Rememberance and
          later shortened to Memerance by family members.

          Letter:   Her siblings George Epley and Annie Epley Williams write letter for her pension approval.  Mary's pension is            awarded and assigned to the pension office in New Orleans.  When the pension office wrote inquiring whether  she had died, the query came from Knoxville, Tenn.

             Also in the Cannon County, Tennessee Probate Records; under
             Guardians Settlements of 1859-1868 FHL film 0898431 pages 388,
             460, 615 it states that Jeremiah Burkett is a minor heir of A. J.
             Burkett who is deceased; witnesses are Jeremiah Bush, A.F. Todd,
             and J.F. Dickens, and dated Feb. 4, 1867. On another page of the
             same film it states that Jeremiah Bush is made guardian for
             Jeremiah Burkett.

            he states that his father Henry was born in Gilford County, NC. and
            that his mother's middle name was Magdalene--Mary Magdalene Epley.
            He states that the father of Henry'swas Memberance Burkett.
            Gilford County, NC was a Quaker community, so James' grandfathers
            name was probably Rememberance and shorten to Memberance by family
