John "Lackland" King of ENGLAND
King John was not a nice King and was considered a tyrant who seized the throne in 1199. He threw Prince arthur in prison and probably had him murdered, He being the rightful King. He was young and wanted the best for the country. John threw people in prison, stole land, impossed heavy taxes on the people. He fought with the pope, and for 6 years the whole country of England was excomunicated. He would demand bridges built so he could hunt, forbidding villagers from killing his spoils. Finally the people refused to fight with him and he was defeated 1214 Battle of Bouvines. that winter the Magna Charta was drawn up and it was for the freedom of all men. It was likened to our Constitution. He was forced to sign by forcing his surrender at Runnemede.
