According to Eric Newsom, the Roberts family arrived in Tuscaloosa andFayette Counties of Alabama in the 1830's.

Amos Roberts remained with his family in NC until about 1832 when theymoved to Tuscaloosa Co. AL.
Amos is on the 1837 tax list in Tuscaloosa Co. AL living on his father'sfarm near Newtonville whose land bordered that of Roland Andrews, fatherof Mary Jane Adline Andrews.

In the 1860 census in Tuscaloosa Co. AL, Amos is working as a carpenter.
In March of 1862, Amos and Mary sold lands in Tuscaloosa Co. and moved toadjacent Fayette Co. where Amos farmed 320 acres north of Newtonville.
An Amos P. Roberts was a member of the First Choctaw Mounted Rifles,Company D, during the Civil War, record #2128. To be a member of thistroop, you had to be at least a part blood Choctaw. He traveled toOklahoma with his unit. Amos P. Sr. would have been about 50 at thistime. Therefore, it would be assumed that it was probably Amos P. Jr.who was in this troop.
In December of 1867, Amos and Mary sold their farm to Thomas Blakeney,husband of Sarah Roberts, and headed to Conway Co. AR where they settlednear Jerusalem, Griffin Township. Thirteen wagons of settlers lefttogether to journey to Arkansas.

Virginia Campbell is related to WilliamWatkins who was her grandfather.
