HISTORY: When only fifteen years of age, he enlisted in Cap;tain Shlvester Richardson's Company in the French and Indian War, serving from 18 June to 1 Dec. 1760. He served almost continujousl.yn in the Revolution from its beginning until the fall of 1777, attaining the rank of captain. Abbout 1778, he became a settler in Barnard and was present at the first town meeting, when he was elected assessor. In 1778 he represented the town in the Legislature. By that body he was named on 15 June one of the Commissioners "for the better regulating Titles of Land within this State." On 23 Feb. 1780, he bought Nos. 32 and 59, Second Division, in Pomfret, of Oliver Udall for L600;; and in October of thatyear he served, by order of Coloner Safford, as captain of a company of men from Pomfret and Hartford for fourteen days at Fort Fortitude in Bethel. He held several town offices in Pomfret, being a selectman in 1782. In 1787 he sold his farm in Pomfret. In August, 1788, he was at Catskill, New York. His widow died in Woodstock, 26 July, 1814. Only one child is positively identified, Margaret.
