    As of Sep 14, 2009, Helen Madsen stated that based on the history books she has read and the research she has done, it is evident that having two names indicates wealth or nobility that isnt recorded. There is not record yet found that John Thomas (273) had wealth, but he is recorded as John Thomas and not John ap Thomas indicating that his father was named Thomas. However when Helen has recorded him as an individual, she has listed him as John ap Thomas, because there is no evidence of wealth or nobility, therefore giving the possibility that his father was named Thomas. Additional research needs to be conducted to verify if John Thomas is the correct name or John ap Thomas is correct. This reasoning is weak based on the fact that in all official records, he is recorded as John Thomas and not John ap Thomas.
