NAME: In his book (The Heizer Family American Pioneers) James Marion Heizer reports Samuel and his half brother John spelled Heizer with a "z". Some records show Heizer spelled with an "s". Andreas (Andrew) (son of Johannes) spelled it Heiser. In records the name is spelled Heiser, Hesser, Hiser, Hayser, Hyser, Heizer. Other variations may exist. NOTES: 1. Was a Revolutionary War Militia Soldier of Captain Isaac Sahler's 1st. Battalion 4th Class. 2. Was described as "my old friend" by Rev. Henry Melchoir Muhlenberg of Augustus Lutheran Church, the father of Gen. Peter Muehlenberg. 3. Andreas Heiser served as a Private 4th Class with Capt. Casper Dull's Company of the 1st Battalion, Philadelphia Co. Militia, commanded by Col. Daniel Heister, Esq.
