                   NOTES:
    1. Edward married Dina (Dinah) Gledall and had 4 children. Hannah, Robert, Martha and Abraham, (my Great Great Grandfather). (She died in England when she was 30 years of age).
    2. He then married Sarah Pilsworth who died when she was 39, leaving 4 more children.
    3. A third marriage was entered into with Christianna Snell and she died when she was 30, leaving another family of 4. Two died in England and a baby died aboard ship coming to America. He emigrated to Utah in 1862. Prior to that coming he sent his oldest son Robert 4 years earlier, thinking he could earn more here and help the family emigrate. Grasshoppers came to Utah and Robert had all he could do to keep himself, without aiding the family in England. However, he did manage to put a few things together when the family did come to America .
    4. The children Edward brought with him were Abraham and his family (wife Eliza & 4 children: Susanna 22, Sarah 16, Alice 3, and a baby. The baby died and was buried at sea. When the family landed in the US trouble was every where. The Civil War was at its height, bridges were burned by Rebles 30 minutes after they crossed them. At Detroit, Michigan, they took a ferry boat to Florence, Neb. (which is now Omaha). They waited 6 weeks for wagon trains to come to Salt Lake. Toward the end of the journey, Susanna died - just before the company reached Devil's Gate. Utah. She died at night. The Captain was awakened in the morning and told of the death. A few men dug a grave, they wrapped Susanna in a blanket and lowered her into the ground. A prayer was said. Her death and the burial took about 20 minutes and then the company was on their way again. The Maws arrived in SL where they met Robert. He had some steers but they were too young to pull the wagons so they walked again to Plain City.
    5. Edward met Keaiah Warner in 1863. She had 4 children. They were married in 1864. Six children came from this union, 4 living to maturity.
