NOTES: 1. BIRTH: Kent in Lanarkshire is near Glasgow. One history states David was born at Cambuslang. 2. BAPTISM: Rebaptism - Recorded as 10 May 1941 3. ENDOWMENT: Re-Endowed - Recorded as 10 Jul 1941 4. MARRIAGE DATE: Shown as 8 Aug 1788 & also as 26 Aug 1788 - Park Family Records and Anc.File. 5. EMIGRATION INFORMATION: The family emigrated to Upper Canada as part of the Lanark Society Settlers. The following notice appeared in The Times (London), Friday April 20, 1821 / No. 11, 225 page 3. "Friday morning, the fine ship George Canning, Captain Porter, sailed from Greenock for Quebec, with 489 passengers, chiefly from Glasgow and its neighborhood, consisting of weavers, cotton-spinners, joiners, farmers, and labourers, from the various emigrant associations which the distress of the times has lately called into operation." James and Marion, along with their sons Hugh, Joseph, John, William, and David, (also their grandson James Pollock Park, son of Andrew) sailed from Greenock Scotland on Apr. 14, 1821, aboard the 'George Canning.' They arrived at Quebec on Jun 2 1821. The new settlers were each given 100 acres by the Canadian government.
