NAME: Christian VARNER or WERNER
NOTES: 1. Peter came to the United States of America on the ship "Lydia" in September 1747, landing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and taking allegiance to the United Colonies of America on 24 September 1747. Others who came in the same year were Jacob, Adam, Phillip and Edward Verner/Varner. 2. A Sons of the American Revolution Application indicates that: Peter Varner born about 1730 in Germany, supposedly, Stuttgart, lived for a time in France and Switzerland and emigrated to Penn in 1743 and landed on the ship St. Andrew. He married 11th of Dec. 1766 in Phila. Co. to Mary Eve Roth (Roadt), and before the Rev. moved with his family to western Penn. settling in what later became Fayette Co., from here he served during the Rev. While with the 8th Penn's under Col. Daniel Brodhead in the Winter of 1778 he helped to build Fort Laurens, the first military post of the new Gov. erected in the territory of what is now Ohio. Following the Rev. he moved to Chester Co. Va. then before the close of 1790 he settled in Augusta Co. Va. where he died in 1791.
He married Anna Maria Rothfuss 17 May 1729 at Baiersbronn, Wurttemberg, Germany . Anna Maria Rothfuss was born at Baiersbronn, Wurttemberg, Germany 11 Nov 1704 daughter of Johann Martin Rothfuss and Agatha Gaiser .
