OBITUARY: James Clough, who died at South Lancaster,Mass., July 15 at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 20 days, was a native of the town of Boscawen and resided there until 23 years old, when he removed to Orange in Grafton county and lived there for many years, holding all important town offices, and representing the town in the legislature for three years. He was a devoted and life-long Democrat, and had been a subscriber to the N. H. Patriot for more than 60 years.
He married Betsey Emerson 3 Aug 1798 at New Hampshire . Betsey Emerson was born at Hopkinton, Merrimack, New Hampshire 20 Apr 1776 daughter of Timothy Emerson and Mary Harris Eastman .
