Mrs. Henry Stoffers
Mrs. Henry Stoffers died at her home on East Oak, Hillsboro,  Tuesday, Jan. 26. 1915, aged 77 years, one month and 14 days, a sufferer from bronchial asthma. She has been ailing for a number of years, but was not taken seriously ill until about a week prior death.  Her maiden name was Caroline Dorothea Lueders, and she was born in Schiphortampt Neuminister, Holstein, Germany, Dec. 12. 1837.  She was married to Henry Stoffers in May, 1866, and that year moved to America, settling first in Iowa Co., Iowa, where they resided 11 years.  They next moved to Audubon County, Iowa, where they lived 12 years.  They came to Oregon in 1890, and have made this state their home since that date.  They lived on a farm 6 miles east of Hillsboro, until 6 years ago, when they retired to their Oak Street home.  She is survived by her husband, a son and four daughters.  The surviving children are Henry Stoffers, Bethany;  Mrs. Jos. P. Shirley,  Hillsboro;  Mrs.Henry Thoeny, Redland, Ore.; Mrs. Abraham Grossen, Cape Horn, Wash.; and Mrs. Sophia Wolf, who has made her home with the parents for five years.  She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
       Funeral services will be held at the Congregational Church, Friday, at 1:30 o'clock, Rev. Luecke, of Schieffelin, to conduct the obsequies.  Interment will be in the Hillsboro cemetery.
     Mrs. Stoffers was highly respected, and was a kind and loving mother.  Her death will be mourned by a host of friends in Washington County who have held her in high esteem for her many sterling qualities.
