FROM AN UNPUBLISHED MANUSCRIPT BY CLIFF WARRICK - "ON APRIL 5, 1824, TIMOTHY AND ELIZABETH PURCHASED 50 ACRES OF LAND FROM THE STATE OF TENNESSEE FOR TWELVE AND ONE HALF CENTS PER ACRE. THE LAND WAS LOCATED NORTH OF THE HOLSTON RIVER ON WHITE TOP CREEK, AND ADJOINED THE 16 ACRE TRACT OF LAND THAT TIMOTHY AND ELIZABETH WERE LIVING ON."
FROM AN UNPUBLISHED MANUSCRIPT BY CLIFF WARRICK - "THOMAS MILLARD WAS A WAGONMAKER/BLACKSMITH BY TRADE AND THE FOLLOWING YEAR ON JANUARY 2, 1836 HE PURCHASED FOR $150, 1/4 ACRE OF LAND IN PAPERVILLE, A SMALL TOWN JUST SOUTH OF BRISTOL, TENNESSEE. THE LAND WAS DESIGNATED AS LOT #20 AND CONTAINED A HOUSE AND SHOP. HIS WORK WAS GOOD AND HIS BUSINESS APPEARS TO HAVE PROSPERED AND THE FOLLOWING YEAR ON JULY 20, 1837 HE PURCHASED FROM WILLIAM HAMMER 4 ACRES OF LAND NEAR PAPERVILLE FOR NINETY SEVEN DOLLARS. SOME OF THE WAGONS WHICH THOMAS MADE WERE STILL IN EXISTENCE AS LATE AS THE 1930'S; A GREAT TRIBUTE TO A MAN WHOSE SKILL AND DARING HELPED BUILD THE FOUNDATIONS OF THIS COUNTY."
