FROM HOLSTON PASTFINDER MARCH 1988 OBITUARIES ABSTRACTED FROM THE BRISTOL NEWSPAPER BY WILMA SMITH, 522 LEE ST., BRISTOL, VA 24201 "WED., 15 JAN. 1908 CAPT. CROCKETT RUTLEDGE MILLARD  DIED AT HIS HOME IN DENVER CO., JAN 9 ACCORDING TO A LETTER FROM HIS WIFE, MRS. KATE CARLOCK MILLARD TO MR. BACHMAN, BRISTOL.  MR. BACHMAN AND CAPT. MILLARD WERE IN SCHOOL TOGETHER AND ENTERED THE CONFEDERATE ARMY TOGETHER IN 1861 JOINING THE FIRST COMPANY ORGANIZED IN SULLIVAN CO., TN., 1862.  MILLARD WAS ELECTED CAPTAIN.  WE (SIC) WAS WOUNDED SEVERELY IN THE ARM AND AT DREWRY'S BLUFF, VA WHILE IN CHARGE ON THE ENEMY'S BREATWORK RECEIVED A GUNSHOT WOUND PASSING ENTIRELY THROUGH HIS BODY AND LEFT LUNG.  HIS ONLY LIVING SON, NAT MILLARD.  WAS BURIED AT OLD HOME AT ROLLO, MO."
