Dear Nancy, Yes, I remember corresponding with you. At the time, I didn't know how Casandriss fit into the family. I think it was Audrey Tice Miller who said Casandriss had a brother Wesley, and that her parents were William and Sarah Benner. William died early and so they went to live with the uncle, Jacob Benner. Wesley married Maria Louisa Beane, and widow Sarah Benner and the widowed father of Maria Beane eventually married also.
I was just looking at my pedigree and figured out that I put William as Jacob's son. I just fixed it so that William is a sibling. In Casandriss' marriage record it says: "witness: Jacob - uncle says ok"
I haven't done any more on the family past William Benner and his assumed brothers and father Henry.
I do have several notes for Wesley if you would like them.

Haven't looked at the attachments yet but browsing thru what is shown, I see Louisa Co Ia. Not sure if I told you way back when but George Wesley Roberts was s/o Mary Ann Benner and Lorenzo Roberts and Emily E Smith Roberts was the d/o Susan Benner and Gilbert N Smith. Mary Ann and Susan were sisters making George W and Emily first cousins. Don't think I had found that information back when we were corresponding? When George Wesley Roberts died in Washington Co Ia in 1881, his widow, Emily Smith Roberts took their children and moved to Green Co Ia to live with Roberts family. Now I find that the Benners were also in Ia. Me thinks a bunch of Ia research is needed.  I'll check this out more tomorrow... time for the bed. Nancy

WOW. I'm just seeing all kinds of new clues for my Roberts research. Asyou remember, I hope, Mary Ann Benner m Geo. Wesley Roberts. I see whereWesley is running in your lines too... so we must have a Wesley somewhere onback a generation or 2.Some clues that might help you too... Geo W and Emily lived in WashingtonCo, where they had a farm, and that's where he's buried. He entered theCivil War in Henry Co, next door to Des Moines Co. When he died Emily lostthe farm because with a house full of kids she couldn't pay for it. Emilywent from Washington Co [next door to Louisa Co] to Hardin Co, and there isonly 1 county between it and Cerro Gordo. It was in Hardin Co that Emilymarried George Thomas. Shortly after their marriage they went s/w toPhillips Co, Ks and of course from there the kids, both Roberts and Thomas,scattered, with John Wesley, my ggf, going to Colo. Anyway, I have Roberts,Colligan, Magby, Thomas etc in Hardin, Dubuque, Greene, Washington, Henry,Monroe etc. I've never tried to do anything on Benner in Iowa but therejust might be a clue lurking there somewhere that will lead us to Henry andhis siblings, parents etc.I see that you have William b in PA. Any clues at all as to where in Pa?I've never been able to find anything in Md for Peter... or Henry either forthat matter.It's late and I'm tired... gonna try to sleep on this. Thanks for theFGS's. He raised four children, two girls and two boys.
"Soon after her father arrived from Ohio, (the widow Smith) was united in marriage to Gilbert N. Smith, "  born in NYC, parents of James and George (Gilbert died young).

Gilbert N "Yankee" SMITH married Susan BENNER, 6 Mar 1843 in Peru, Miami Co. Census records indicate Gilbert was born in NY ca 1818. He died in 1855 in Miami Co. Anyone know anything about his ancestry?

George Wesley ROBERTS married Emily SMITH 28 Dec 1865 in Miami Co. George was born ca 1830/31 according to census records, I believe in Licking Co, OH. Anyone know for sure? He was the s/o Lorenzo ROBERTS and his wife Mary Ann BENNER. Anyone know where Lorenzo and Mary Ann were married? Possibly in Licking Co, Oh. Emily was his 1st cousin, the daughter of Mary Ann Benners sister, Susan Benner and her husband Gilbert N "Yankee" SMITH. Thanks, nt
