Starting at the beginning; my father, Carl Leonhardt was born in Ft. Collins, CO on 12 Oct 1906, two months after his parents, Georg Friedrich and Theresa (Strecker) Leonhardt arrived in America from Grimm, Russia. They were 'Germans from Russia.' Dad died 27 Mar 1992 in Riverton, Fremont, WY. He's buried in Mt. View Cemetery in Riverton.
My mother, Dala Irene March, was born 11 Nov 1911 on a homestead in Sioux County, NE. Mom died 2 February, 1979 of kidney cancer. She is also buried in Mt. View Cemetery, here in Riverton.
My parents were married in Harrisburg, NE on 1 Mar 1933. (Mom said, "The first of March was the last of March that year.")
They had four children; Velma Myrtle, born 31 Mar 1934, Arthur Fred, born 21 Apr 1935, JoElla Rose, born 22 Aug 1941 and Laurin George, born 3 Feb 1948.
Arthur died 8 Feb 2002. He is also buried in Mt. View Cemetery, Riverton, Fremont WY.
Dad moved to Scottsbluff and married Aunt Myrt on 26 Jan 1980. She was an 'old maid', never married. She didn't use her first name. She was always known as Myrtle. Myrt was also born on the Sioux County homestead. She died 30 Apr 1989 in Scottsbluff, Scottsbluff, NE and is buried in East Lawn Cemetery, Minitare, Scottsbluff, NE.
After Myrtle died, Dad came back to Riverton and spent his last years with Alzheimers in a care facility.
