Hello,
It has been a while since we wrote. I thought I would update you on a few things I have found.
I ordered the soldiers and sailors info for Geroge D Twombly. I recieved about 8 pages and one included what they call a will page. George had a wife and three children listed (by ages only) and said he lived in Brown co., Ill. He wanted everything sent to his brother William if anything happened to him. (Alvin was also in this home and the records cost ten dollars)
another page says this, "your wife will draw your penision fromnow on until such times as you may be released from the penitentiary" I have been trying to run down these records to see if there is a mug shot and that may identify some old photos we have.
In one place he is honorably discahrged and another dishonorablly. so no telling what that is about.
I have found a man named Robert Twomlby who lives in Iowa and he sent me a lot of info on the Twomlby family, He is related to Horatio. I found books in Heritage Quest that has a lot of Twomlby info and they helped brideg the gaps for me.
Just checking in and hope you are well and still researching.
Raymonda

Thank you so very much for your info.I am on my way to town (supply day) but when I get home I will gather all I have on the Twombly family. My husband is direct descendant of George D Twombly. I have his civil war info. I also have a photo that MAY be him. He had a daughter that does not show on the census records. Her name was Delia Ethly May Twombly. She wound up here in Oklahoma. Do you have any old photos?I will be glad to share anything I have or get with you. So glad to find my hubbys cousins.Raymonda Allenabutterflyhill@aol.com

Civil war pension for George D Twombly shows Martha Stoops as his wife and 3 children listed are Alice Josephine born 26 April 1874Hester Lenora 27 Sept 1877 and Delia Ethy 21 Dec 1884. It also states the residences since the civil war.Two children are not listed. Did they die or were they married and moved off somewhere? I think a search of Texas death and cemetery records would prove useful George was dropped from the pension roll on 22 Nov 1929 because of death.
