GaffordFormer Welfare Director Dies of Heart AilmentLawrence Elmer Gafford, 56, for six years manager of the welfare office in Salina and resident here since 1937, died at 4:30 this morning at St. John's hospital of a heart affliction. His home was at 720 Merrill, his family including his widow, Mrs. Flevilla Gafford, a son Leland and daughter Eula. There are three brothers, Ernest of Corning, James of Lincoln, Neb., and Earl of Wamego; and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Kennedy, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Nellie Burger, Sacramento, Calif.Mr. Gafford, was born August 31, 1890, in Hiawatha, was a member of the United Brethren church. His body lay today in the Salina Funeral Home awaiting completion of funeral arrangements.Salina JournalJuly 9, 1946L. E. GaffordThe funeral of Lawrence E. His only sister that I know of was Eula Marie Gafford, born April 23, 1927 in Salina. Their parents were Lawrence Elmer Gafford and Flavilla Marie Saddoris who were married on June 14, 1916 in Gypsum.Lawrence Elmer died on July 8, 1946 in Salina.Eula Marie did not die in Saline County, and I'm not sure about Flavilla.Eula Marie married a Mr. Smith but I don't know where.Could you possibly look up the marriages for Eula Marie Gafford and her parents?And then the deaths of Lawrence and Leland and their obituaries if available? Salina JournalAugust 28, 1978p-9Mrs. Lawrence GaffordThe funeral for Mrs. Flavilla M. Gafford, 83, 1416 S. 11th, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel Funeral Home, the Rev. Curtis Fulton officiating.Mrs. Gafford died Sunday at the Shalimar Plaza Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 4, 1894, at Dillon, Kas., and had lived in Salina since 1937. She had retired from the sales force of the former Linck Drug Store. Her husband, Lawrence, died in 1946. Mrs. Gafford was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Cross.Surviving are a son, Leland, 1416 S. 11th; a daughter, Mrs. Eula Woodburn, Edgewood, N.M.; a sister, Mrs. Edith Carlson, Gypsum; a grandchild and great-grandchild.Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the church.

Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.Mr. Gafford died Wednesday at his home. He was born March 21, 1919 in Gypsum, and moved to Salina in 1976. He was the retired chief personnel officer at Ft. Riley. Mr. Gafford was a member of the Retired Officers Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Eula Woodburn, Edgewood, N.M.
