Laurie,  Found your info under Roots Web and was particularly interested in your input on the James Paul family since I am a granddaughter of his tenth child, Samuel S. Paul.  James Paul's first wife, Nancy Hamilton, died March 1, 1862 in Washington county Iowa, and James maried a second time to Sarah Elizabeth Stewart on September 25, 1866 in Washington county. Thus, the last four children were of the second marriage; namely, William, Samuel, Mary Evelyn and George. Mary Evelyn (not Ella) was born January 8, 1873 and George H. was born May 6, 1877.  Now, about myself. I grew up near Washington, Iowa and knew Uncle George H. Paul as he visited many times in my parent's home and he halped me learn about the family of his father. Now I live in Wisconsin but get back to Iowa when I can.  Would love to hear from you and know how you fit into this family tree puzzle. Are you working only on the Porter side of the Paul family line. I do remember a Pierson family living in a big white house just east of Ainsworth and Grandma Paul saying they were related but she didn't know just how. I do have quite a bit information on Marth Jane and Catherine Paul who married Porter brothers which I would be glad to share if it would be of help to you.  Looking forward to hearing from you.
