John Ekberg
Sioux Falls - John Ekberg, 84, of Sioux Falls, died Thursday at the VA Regional Medical Center. He grew up and attended school in Sioux Falls. John served with the Army during WWII in the Philippines and Aleutian Islands. He worked as a truck driver with Tri-State Trucking for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Glory Holms of Sioux Falls 5 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mildred (Dan) Freeman of Harrisburg.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Hills of Rest Memorial Park.

                   age 59 when she died. She had throat cancer. Sherman said she was so good, why did she have to die?
They had a farm west of Alcester, East of Beresford, S.D.
They found her husband Johnny Severson dead on his living room floor with his mouth full of peanuts.  "They found him with peanuts in his mouth.  He choked to death. Served him right."  Ethel March said.
Velma lived with her mother in law all her marriage.

Children:  #1-Irene still lives in Beresford,lived one year with Virllie and Sherman in Alcester to go to High School;
#2-Gordie in Aberdeen;

Ethel in 1999 was 87 years old born on June 3rd.   Trips taken over the years:  She sold all she owned to be able to travel at times.  Many times to Canada, two times to Israel, Hawaii, phoned Don once from Paris; Alaska 2 times.

Uses a walker, if she uses a cane she falls over.
July 1999 - has sold car.  Still has accordion.  Too heavy to lift and play now.  Quick player at any games.  Her favorite is Pinochle.
