J.J.MARCH FAMILY
While a small boy, Jason J. March came to Hot Springs with his parents, William T. and Emma March, from his birthplace in Nebraska. Sept. 9, 1894, he was married to Miss Effa M. Wycoff at Norfolk, Neb., and they returned to Hot Springs to make their home. During his early days in Hot Springs he worked as a typesetter for the Daily Times, published by the late Fred Evans, and for the Hot Springs Star, published by John A. Stanley.
William T. March, his father, operated a grocery store in Hot Springs, and when he retired Jason took over the business. For forty-six years he operated March's grocery and bakery on Minnekahta Avenue and his grocery and dairy business in Lower Town. He owned the Sunnyslope Dairy farm which was stocked with thoroughbred cows, located nine miles south of Hot Springs.
Mr. March was active in the civic and business life of Hot Springs. He was president of the former Stockmen's Bank, and for many years president of the Hot Springs Lumber Company. He was a fifty year member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and had served as president of the Hot Springs Kiwanis Club.
Three sons were born of this union: Col. Leonard W. March, U.S.A., retired, Dr. Kenneth March and A. Stanley March.
Mrs. March passed away in Hot Springs in 1945. Mr. March made his home in Hot Springs until he retired and moved to San Diego, Calif., in order to be near his three sons. He passed away Feb. 20, 1961, at the age of 89 years and entombment was in Greenwood Mausoleum, San Diego, Cal.
