We suspect Laura may be John A.'s 2nd wife.  The first child was born in Indiana.  The second was born a year later in Kansas.  Then the third child was born about 9 years later in Illinois.  Possibly a migration from Indiana to Kansas in 1869/1870, with John A.'s first wife's death after leaving Indiana.

John A. was a civil war pensioner, with his wife Laura F. then receiving it as his widow. 569342 Illinois is John's pension certificate number, dated possibly July 11, 1890.  915548 Indian is Laura's certificate number, with a possible date of April 10, 1912.  (copy on file).

He was in 146th Indiana Infantry, Company A, serving as a private.
