In conversation with sisters, Janice determined he MAY have had a brother named "Davey".

He went to the Spanish American War & was paid 16 dollars a month.

Robert Gossett died in a railroad accident in approximately 1903-4, again from sister discussions, repeating what John Oren Gossett had said years ago.

Survived by husband Arthur H. Hunt. Her siblings were apparently taken in by someone else, as they are not listed in the 1880 census as living with David & Lucy.

death month is poss August.

____
1930 census has Arthur Hunt & Hattie living in Honey Creek, Crawford, IL. It indicates Hattie's first marriage was at 17 years of age.

Notes:
He went by the first name of "Dick". His grandfather, with whom his mother and he lived, always called him "Dickie". Because of relative dates of death, we assume this was his Grandfather Gossett. (from conversations)

When Janice was a child, they traveled to Casey or Quincy, Illinois to obtain a birth certificate to apply for social security (1960s). There was some difficulty obtaining it because he was listed as Dossett or Fossett in the records. This issue was somehow resolved, and his birth certificate was issued, after referring to other documents (doctor?).

U.S. Social Security Death Index Records... ssn: 509-10-5039. has him listed as "Dick Gossett".

John moved to Madison to work for his half-brother, Carl Kimberlin (Hattie Nevell Baughman's first child), who owned trucks.
