                   BIRTH:
    Following are statements regarding the "twin" sister of Oley Charles Henry Oleson, as I can find no other documentation of her birth or death.
    I am Lucy Oleson Thurgood.  My mother, Lolabell Garner Oleson
    (daughter-in-law
    of Oley C. H. Oleson and Emma Elizabeth Ridout) told me verbally
    that Emma
    Elizabeth Ridout Oleson had told her in person that she had given
    birth to
    twins born two days apart.  The first, a girl, died several hours
    after birth
    and the second child, a boy, born two days later, was named Oley
    Charles Henry
    Oleson and became my grandfather.
    Mildred Oleson Bauman, my aunt (and granddaughter of Emma Elizabeth
    Ridout),
    lived with and helped care for Emma for many years.  Aunt Mildred
    told me that
    Emma had told her many times of the birth of those twin babies and
    the unusual
    circumstances of having them two days apart.  She said that Grandma
    Emma had
    told of someone changing the baby girl's diaper once before the baby
    had died.
    Grandma Emma said that the midwife who helped at the delivery had
    smelled of
    liquor and that Grandma always figured that the baby had died
    because the
    intoxicated midwife had used poor judgement in something.  Grandma
    said she
    knew of nothing having been wrong with the baby when it was born.
    The midwife
    was released shortly after that and another midwife was brought in
    to help with
    the birth of the second baby.
