Pleasant, Titus, TX. Wife Bertha working as a sales lady. Mother in law living there too. 1922 - H. M. Lilienstern (older brother) advertises for an experienced Candy Maker in Dallas News on Sep 2 1922. 1929 - Apx. - D.R. Lilienstern sponsored a youth basketball team and coached the boys. (Coach "Catfish" Smith...) 1929 - Operating Doris Candy Company in Texarkana. Lived at 2103 Olive. Worked at 1411-1413 W 4th St. 1930 - Proprietor of a candy company in Texarkana, living at 2103 Olive. Renting. Mother in law living there too. Bertha was teaching music. (Census) 1931 - Arox. Went bankrupt and company went to someone else, 1931 - Sep 9, Phoenix Hosiery Company vs Lilienstern & Camak, Inc, default on debt. (Dallas News - Camaks were neighbors of Bird Old and listed as "Merchants" on the census, must have been partners) 1931 - No occupation listed. Doris Candy now under ownership of G. H. Lucas 1932 - Student at the University of Texas, Austin. Wife was a saleswoman. Daughter Sara is a student as well. 1934 - Receives voucher for supplying the capitol with Dallas Newspaper. (Legislature doc - continued until at least 1941 ) 1935 - Finishes paying off back debts from bankruptcy, except guy who took Doris Candy (Herman Old letter) 1935 - Living at 509 Ratherview Pl. in Austin, owns Lilly Candy Company. Business at 1502 S. Congress Av. 1937 - Living at 1804 Lavaca in Austin, owns Lilly Candy Company, at 1404 Sabine. 1939 - Living at 708 E 23 1/2 in Austin. Lilly candy at 403 E 7th. Both working there. 1940 - Living same place, company same place. 1940 - Owner, wholesale candy, Bertha working as a cleark for the wholesale candy co. (1940 Census) 1941 - Living same place, company moved to 1602 Sabine. 1944 - Living same place, Lilly candy company goes to a Mr. P.J. Anthony. They operate TruTex candy now. 1949 - Living at 2314 Oldham in Austin. TruTex is at 1511 Manor Rd. 1953 - Living at 4711 Crestwood Dr. Operating TruTex Lilly Candy Co (bought Lilly back?) operated at 1511 Manor Rd. 1954 - Residence now says Crestway, same number. 1955 - Living same place. No occupation listed, Sherman T Wells is now listed as manager of Tru-Tex Lilly. 1957 - Living same place, Bertha now works for Cheeko Candy.
