NOTES: Elizabeth may or may not be the mother of all these children. It's possible that there were 2 or 3 wives. Did Elizabeth mary Joseph Lyons after William's death? Benjamin who died in Indiana had a daughter named Elizabeth who in 1820 was married to a James Lyons.
NOTES: Some information has been confused about this James. He served in the war of 1812 from 1813 to 1814, and thus could not have been born in 1813. His wife Lavina filed for a widows pension and stated that he died Nov 28 1848 in his home in Madison County, IL. The James Antrobus who served in the civil war was a different person. James provides the link between William Antrobus and the Missouri and Illinois Antrobus lines. In the book "Purcell, You Can't Handle The Truth" the following was recorded: " Thomas Pursell b. 22 Aug. 1776 is the son of Benjamin 1, Thomas was born in Pa. Benjamin 1 paid taxes 1789 until 1806 on the same farm with water coarse, Otter Creek, for which deed is dated 1790 near Fort Boonesborough, Madison Co., Ky. He did not paid taxes in 1807 because he died, believe me, that is the only way to get out of paying taxes. Thomas was the administrator of Benjamin's estate and is recorded in 1808 now in 1823 some loose ends were still being tie up on this estate by Thomas Pursell. James Antrobus, grandson of Benjamin 1, son of William and Elizabeth (Pursell) Antrobus of the county of Montgomery county Missouri appeared before Jesse Mc Donald Justice of the peace, of Franklin Co. Missouri to give power of attorney to his Uncle Thomas Pursell to handle his affairs concerning the portions due him for his grandfather's estate. the Justice of the peace had to be vouched for by Wm. G. Owen, Clerk of Court of Franklin Co. Mo., and then Mr. Owen was vouched by William G. Pettus Secretary of the State of Missouri. At this point David Irvine, clerk of Madison Co., Ky. certified the power o attorney. After all of this trouble with the settlement of this estate there is no question to me why many wills of Thomas Pursell and his descendants can be found." The previous statement connects James Antrobus, living in or near Franklin County, Missouri, to William Antrobus of Madison County, Kentucky, who married Elizabeth Purcell. This James eventually moved to Greene, IL.
