Notes:
In recent years (since about 1980) there has been much discussion as to whether Judson, son of Nathan and Sarah Hewitt Tolman, had the middle name of "Adonirum" (Adnyrum, Adoniran, J. A. Sen., etc.) A middle name does not appear in most primary records such as birth and endowment and in other records he personally wrote. As late as 1982, when the priesthood blessing of Judson were restored, no middle name was used. The name Judson "Adonirum" Tolman was given as the father on the endowment records of some of the children. It is also found in the Chesterfield, Idaho Ward Records as Judson A. Tolman Sen. when he visits to bless grandchildren; Several family members (Including William Odell Tolman, Laurel J. Burningham, Samuel Ernest Tolman, Genevieve Tolman Hofhine, E. Dennis Tolman, Loa Don Hofhine Glade, Pauline Hanks Christiansen, and Loraine Tolman Pace) have done extensive research on Judson, his wives and families, with various conclusions. As the current Vice Chairman over research I feel that it is important to list any and all documentation that is pertinent to the life of Judson. However, in an attempt to avoid disharmony and confusion in the family and within the records we will not use a middle name for Judson on family group sheets or pedigree charts, but in the notes and sources only and the family group record will reflect the best, most accurate data that is available to date. Loraine Tolman Pace 11 Jul 2000.

NAME: When child #4 Joseph Holbrook was endowed, his father's name was listed "Judson Adnyrum Tolman" in Endowment House Record (FHL #0183406, Book G, p 240). In Chesterfield Ward Record Record of Members (FHL #0007419, Book 1 p 2), child #8 Lamoni's father was listed "J. A. Tolman, Sen." and child #13 Wallace's father was listed Judson A. Tolman, Sen." In the same Chesterfield Ward Record of Members, 1884-1906 Section, child #3 Judson Adonirum and child #12 Cyrus father's name was listed as "Judson A. Tolman, Sen." Dora Matilda Tolman's blessing was given by her grandfather, "Judson A. Tolman, Sen." Bountiful Ward Record (FHL #0025821 p. 23). Child #6 Sarah L. Mabey's father's name given as "Judson Adonirum Tolman" in "Our Father's House", p 115, a Family History about Joseph Thomas Mabey by Charles Rendell Mabey, in the possession of Rendell N. Mabey, Salt Lake City.

BIRTH: Land and Property Deeds of Windsor, Kennebec, Maine, 1802-1827, Vol 60 p. 177/179 (FHL #0011102, item 2) When Judson's father purchased land in Windsor 9 Feb 1827 and 24 Mar 1827, he was listed as "Nathan Tollman of Hope, in the county of Lincoln (Maine)." This would indicate Judson was born in Hope. On most LDS church and temple records he listed his birthplace as Windsor, Kennebec, Maine.

BAPTISM: Original baptism 12 Jan 1845 in Iowa. He was excommunicated 3 Oct 1910 and rebaptized 14 Feb 1912, recorded in 1910 and 1912 Davis Stake Annual Genealogical Report/ Bountiful 1st Ward Record (FHL #0025815)

The blessings were restored by Pres. Spencer W. Kimball. The original dates were restored as they were first performed in his life time (Information given by Val D.
