SOURCES: 1. History of the Bone Family William Bone immigrated to Penn. aft 1691 from Northern Ireland. William Bone I acquired land among the rolling timbered hills of Chester (later Lancaster) Co., PA before large groups of foreign immigrants began pouring into Southeastern PA. He settled amid the oaks, the chestnut, beech and hickory. There he found wood, water and fertile land "for the clearing".

William Bone was of Ulster Province, Ireland. He immigrated about 1700 and settled in Southern (probably in Lancaster Coounty) Pennslyvania. He was said to have five sons and two daughters. William Bone II died Epidemic in 1760 or 61. William Bone II spent his life in Chester Co., Lancaster, PA. Improved his land, paid his rent and joined the Scotch-Irish residents in resisting increased rent and taxes. William Bone II and his older brother John I both diedin typhoid fever epidemic of 1760-61. Willima II daughter Jane Bone Gillispie and her infant son died as weel. Also two daughters in law, wives of William II and James and numerous children.
