LLEWELLYN WAS THE PRINCE OF NO. WALES AND IS REFERRED TO AS "THE GREATEST PRINCE IN ALL WALES". ACCORDING TO THE DICTIONARY OF NATIONAL BIOGRAPHY, ENG. PUB. A, VOL. 34, p. 7, LLEWELLYN WAS ONLY 12 YEARS OF AGE WHEN HIS PARTISANS BEGAN TO MOLEST DAVYDD AP OWAIN. THIS TOOK PLACE 1N 1176 OR SHORTLY THEREAFTER. ON PAGE 13 OF THE SAME SOURCE IT STATES THAT NO TRUST CAN BE PLACED IN THE STATEMENT IN THE ROMANCE OF FULK FITZ WARINE THAT AFTER JOAN'S DEATH LLEWELLYN MARRIED EVA FITZ WARINE. THE STATEMENT THAT JOAN WAS THE DAUGHTER OF AGATHA, DAUGHTER OF ROBERT, EARL OF FERRERS, RESTS ON NO KNOWN AUTHORITY (Eng. Pub. A, Vol. 29, p. 388). IN THE DICTIONARY OF NATIONAL BIOGRAPHY, IT INDICATES THAT THE DAUGHTERS OF LLEWELLYN BY THE NAME OF GWLADYS AND MARGARET MAY HAVE BEEN DAUGHTERS BY JOAN. BECAUSE OF THE PROBABLE PERIOD OF TIME IN WHICH MARGARET LIVED AND WAS MARRIED SHE IS ARBITRARILY PLACED WITH THIS COUPLE; HOWEVER, IN THE CASE OF GWLADYS, IT IS KNOWN SHE WAS PROBABLY MARRIED TO REGINALD de BRAOSE AS EARLY AS 1215; IT IS THEREFORE PRESUMED SHE WOULD BE MORE LIKELY TO BE A DAUGHTER BY 'TANGLWYST'. SHE COULD HAVE BEEN MARRIED TO REGINALD de BRAOSE AS A CHILD, SINCE SHE HAD NO CHILDREN BY HIM, BUT THERE IS NO DIRECT EVIDENCE THAT SUCH A CHILD MARRIAGE TOOK PLACE. SHE WAS PREVIOUSLY SEALED TO THIS COUPLE ON 7 MAY 1915, AND SHOWN TO HAVE BEEN BORN ABOUT 1208.
