JOSIAH CARPENTER WAS ELECTED AS ONE OF THE HIGHWAY SURVEYORS IN 1720. AT THE TOWN MEETING HELD 27 OCT. 1721, MR. JATHNIEL PECK, MR. JAMES BOWEN AND MR. JOSIAH CARPENTER WERE CHOSEN A COMMITTEE TO HANDLE THE TOWN'S PART OF THE 50,000 POUND ISSUE OF PROVIDENCE OF MASSACHUSETTS BAY BILLS OF CREDIT.
