David moved to Monongalia County, Va when he was 16 years old. According to Banta "He received a warrant, August 13 1799, for 309 acres of land in Monongalia County Va. About 1810 he built a grist mill in Letarte Falls, Meigs Co. Ohio. 1830 Census Mason County Va 1m<5, 1m70-80 1f<5 1f 20-30, 1f60-70 In the 1850 census for Jackson County, he is living with his daughter Rachel and son-in-law John Harpole and grandchildren.

He lived in Middle Island in the Ohio River, above Evans WV. He was drowned in Middle Island Creek about 1856.
He married Hannah Frazier 1758 at Essex, New Jersey . Hannah Frazier was born at Essex, New Jersey 23 Jan 1741 daughter of Ephraim Frazier and Rebecca Cutter .
