                   NOTES
   1. John enlisted August 1775. Private for one year in Captian Stephenson's company, Colonel Rawlings regiment. 1776, served 5 months under captian Smyser and Swope in Colonel Swope's regiment. 1781, Served 2 months in Captian Issac Evan's Company.
2. Records of the state library of Virgina show that Jjohn enlisted in the army for 1 year and at the end of that time, re-enlisted for 3 years.  John was discharged and after that in Jan 1781, re-enlisted and served to the end of the war.
