POSSIBLE HISTORY: "Sometime in the seventeenth century a boy by the name of William Tanner was kidnapped in the streets of London, on his way home from school, with a bible under his arm, and put on board a ship as a cabin boy, and taken to America, settling in Rhode Island, where he married and died. His first wife's name was Mary, and they had three sons, one of them named John." - Source information in notes. Further research is reccommended. This notation fromTanner, George C.William Tanner of North Kingstown, Rhode Island and his descendants Minneapolis?: The author, 1905, 228 pgs. seems to dispute the LDS records, making this William Tanner the primary immigrant LDS records have conflicting data, and connot be deemed wholly reliable for this individual. Some of these records place his birth after that of his children.
