    It it possible that Elias was born in Hanging Rock, Hampshire, WV.  It is also possible that Samuel was born to a previous wife, although no evidence can be found to that conclusion.  It has also been supposed by family that Samuel was adopted.  This also cannot be confirmed.

    -Athens Messenger, 17 Jun 1875 -  Mrs. Eliza A. Poston, wife of Elias Poston, aged 57, died in Nelsonville on the 3d inst. From an obituary notice in the Miner we learn that the deceased was born in Athens County , Ohio Aug 12, 1819. Her father, Mr. Elisha I. Howard, was a devout and active member of the Methodist church; and through the influence of her early religious training, she made a profession of her faith in Christ, and united with the Methodist church when not more than fifteen years of age, with which she remained in connection until the organization of the Nelsonville Presbyterian Church in 1868, with which she united, remaining an active and exemplary member until her death.
    -The children listed under Eliza are those of Eliza and her first husband, Mr. Connors.
