    Mathias sailed to America from Galway, Ireland, arriving in 1846.
    Possibly the Mathias Coffield who married Bridget Connell in Lowell, Mass. on 11 Sep 1848.  If so, Mathias' parents are Martin and Mary, and Bridget's parents are Patrick and Mary.
    Mathias filed his declaration of intention in St Joseph, Michigan, in 1854.
    In 1859 a Catherine Caulfield was married in St. Bridget's.  Relationship is unknown.
    Mathias owned $5000 in land and $2180 in personal property in 1870.
    Mathias generally gives his age younger than he is, based on earlier documents.
    Mathias had moved to Denver late 1885 or early 1886, where he is living at 704 14th Ave W. 
    Mathias is a confectioner in Denver in 1887, living at 817 15th st.
    Mathias is living in Denver in 1889 with his son, running Caulfield & Co., living at 2343 7th st.
    Mathias is in Denver in 1890 living at 1300 S. 12th St.
