BIOGRAPHY:
    Thomas Carter was the 6th son of William Anscell Carter, he was a merchant in the city of London, England. Upon the beheading of King Charles I, he fled England arriving in Virginia by the year 1650. Captain of Militia, Justice Member of Council, Department Clear Burgess in Lancaster County, Virginia. By the year 1663 he had a home in Lancaster County named "Barford" (established Barford Plantation). He married Mary Ancess Parkhouse. His second marriage was to Katherine Dale in Christ Church Parish, Lancaster County, Virginia.
