    Fusa Bydgebok states that Johanne Andersdtr. was a central person in this ancestry. She had 18 children, who spread out all over Norway. She was held in high regard, "even mentioned before or above the Bishop." (Loose translation from the Fusa Bygdebok)

    "Norse Family Saga" states: "Johanne was a member of a rich and powerful family. She had six brothers, whom she outlived, and from whom she inherited property and wealth. By her first marriage (to Bonde Jensen Due, who died in 1420) she had four children. Her second marriage (Nils Eriksen Banner, md. 1425) added 14 more sons and daughters. Widowed in 1447, she continued her carrer as the powerful and benevolent Mistress of Asdal. She became a legend in her own time, "who sat in the parlia- ment with twenty-four men." Not that she ever became a member -- not in that age -- but in a document dated 1462 she is called "the head man in Vendsyssel." In 1479, ninety-four years of age, she died. She lies under a stone carved with her own and her husband's heraldic shields. Her descendants in Denmark and Norway are legion."
