Sources do not agree on the date of his death. One source states that he was tricked and killed by the sons of Eirik (son of Haakon) shortly before Olav was born. "Agrip tells us that Olav was 3 years old when his father was killed. That he was named Olav after his grandfather suggests that his father was still alive at the time of his death." Also, the fact that Astrid and Ingebjorg are listed as children of Trygve and Astrid, would indicate that he may have lived a few years after the birth of Olav.
