James Henry ALLRED

                   NAME: 
J. Urban Allred used the initial J. to differentiate himself from his father who was James Henry Allred. He went through his whole life as either J. Urban Allred or J.U. Allred. However, some records and references used a full name, James Urban Allred. In June 2010, Universal Genealogy Center in SLC, UT, did some thorough research to try resolve this naming issue. They found that he was blessed as J Urban Allred and was baptized in Lehi, UT as James Urban Allred. 
Evidence supporting this conclusion that his real name was James Urban Allred:
1. J. Urban Allred continually put a period after the letter J, signifying that it was an abbreviation, rather than a single letter.
2. He was the first born son of his father, James Henry Allred.
3. He was baptized as James Urban Allred.
4. The Lehi Centennial History article, which he authored, uses three names interchangably: James Urban Allred, J. Urban Allred, and Urban Allred. This signifies that he knew his full name was James Urban Allred, but preferred J. Urban Allred or J. U. Allred in most settings.
SUMMARY: His given name was almost certainly James Urban Allred, as he was baptized, and as he referred to himself in the official Lehi Centennial History, but since he went through his whole life using an abbreviated name, he is being left on the pedigree with the name, J. Urban Allred.
