Membership records of early members are not always complete, and sometimes list a second baptism or endowment date and do not list the initial ordinance. While the sealing-to-parent ordinance is listed as Born in the Covenant (BIC) for all children, the original sealing date for John Amasa Whetten and Martha Carling has not been found. Some records place the couple's marriage in Mexico in 1902, and their endowments in 1912. This would suggest that they did not get married in the temple and their children were not Born in the Covenant, but that they were sealed at some later time when they were able to make the journey to Salt Lake and attend the temple. Again, membership records are not always accurate during this time period, and may include errors or omissions. Family records may be consulted to give a clearer picture of marriage and ordinance dates and locations.
