Etta came out of Hungary during the uprising in 1956. She gave her jewelry to the border guards and walked across the border. She was picked up by George and Marion Hoppe from a Red Cross camp in Bremem, Germany. They put her on a ship to America. She lived in Sarasota, Florida with her sister Emma's family until she died. She married and divorced Peter Seitz. He was a handsome man from a rich family. He had a liquor business and a chauffeur. He spent all his money on gambling and Etta finally said, "Enough", and divorced him. (She married divorced before she came to America.) Emma came to America in 1914 with her sister Emma. She couldn't return because of the war. She tried unsuccessfully to keep Emma from marrying August Hoppe. She felt her sister should also return to Hungary. She got caught here by the war and stayed and married in the Newark, N.J. area. She lived there until her husband retired, after which they moved to Florida. After her husband died she moved to Pennsylvania and lived with her daughter Eleanor and family until her death. Her favorite opera was Carmen. She was a very nice person. She began losing her eyesight in her 20s and was legally blind in her older years. Her nickname was Tomi. Emma went to a little school for girls in Budapest.
