Notes:

                   RESEARCH NOTE:
    - John Young married three times, to Joan Herrington (1622), Joan Harris (abt 1635), and Mary Warren (abt 1639). John and wife Joan Harris immigrated to the US on the Mary Anne in 1637 with five children: John, Thomas, Rachel, Marcy, Joseph, and a step daughter from Joan Harris's first marriage, Anna Palgrave. Other children Christopher and Benjamin were born once in America. 
    - The correct mother of each of these children is not known, but only supposed based on wills, emigration information, and marriage dates.  
    - The issue of the daughters named Mary is complex.  We are pretty sure that the daughter Marcy or Mary who came on the ship with the family is the same who married Edward Petty.  However, a Mary Youngs married William Wells and secondly Thomas Mapes, and is also thought by many to be a daughter of Rev. John Youngs.  Marcy and Mary may have been two different children, or there may be some confusion in parentage.  
    - At this time both daughters have been included in the records of the Rev. John Youngs family.  Because a Marcy was named on the ship passenger list, and we are pretty sure that Mary Marcy Youngs was the wife of Edward Petty, she has been listed under the mother Joan Harrington.  Because this second Mary was likely not the one listed on the ship manifest,  she has been placed under the marriage to Joan Harris, after their arrival in the New World.
    - It is also possible that the second Mary Youngs could be the daughter of one of Jonh's brothers, Joseph or Christopher, who also settled in the area.
    - Further research may be helpful, but is not likely to produce much by way of proof.  This has been analyzed by many genealogists over more than a century with little conclusive evidence being located.
