                       On one pedigree from Nona Agnes Gay the spelling is Slaton and on another
    pedigree it is Slayton.In a third source there is a spelling of Slatin.
    I believe the Slayton is the least likely to be correct.

    There is some reason to believe that Sarah Isabella Slaton/Slatin's parents
    were not Zachariah Slaton/Slatin and Mary Ann Scoggins. (See attached letter
    and Census records.) From the ages on the Census records, Zachariah
    Slaton/Slatin and Mary Ann Scoggins may be grandparents instead of parents.
    Sarah Slatin (6 yrs.) is listed with Ellis Walls and Mary A in the 1850 Heard
    Co., Georgia, Census and a Sarah (15 years) is listed with Ellis Walls and Mary
    A. again in 1860. She seems to have made the switch from Slatin to Walls
    within those 10 years.

    Questions to ask are, "Was Mary A. married to a Slatin/Slaton who died when
    Sarah was very small? Was Ellis Walls Mary A.'s second husband?  Was Sarah an

Samuel Jones Slaton was born at Wilkes, Georgia Abt 1817. His parents were Zachariah Slaton and Mary Hammett.

He married Mary Ann Scoggins . Mary Ann Scoggins was born at Georgia 1824 daughter of Seaborn J. Scoggins and Ann Gentry .
